Bylaw Amendments

COMING TO A BALLOT NEAR YOU!

As one of its goals this year, the CCAC Executive Board, through the services of an outside parliamentarian and a subcommittee, completed a comprehensive review of the organization’s bylaws. During the course of the review, it became apparent that the bylaws document itself needed to be thoroughly revised. Throughout the document were: (1) references to old technology, (2) inconsistencies with current practices, and (3) various policies and procedures were intertwined into the bylaws.

The end result of the exhaustive review is the creation of the following three documents: (1) CCAC Bylaws, (2) League Bylaws, and (3) CCAC Policies and Procedures. The Executive Board, at its meeting of April 30, 2010, unanimously approved the proposed documents and authorized presentation of the same to the membership for voting at the next election. All three documents, with redline changes, were sent out via listserv and will be available below until the amendments are voted upon and the election results are declared at the League Annual Conference in San Diego on September 15, 2010. The documents will also be published in the June Official Word pursuant to CCAC election requirements.

Please do not hesitate to contact any member of the Executive Board if you have any questions and/or comments regarding the proposed documents.

Thank you for your consideration and don’t forget to vote – ballots will be mailed out to you no later than August 2, 2010!

Committee Members Needed

Have you ever thought about getting more involved in the City Clerk's Association of California (CCAC) by serving on a committee at the State or Division level, but were unsure of where to start?  The CCAC Board has created an interest card especially for you. The information will be shared with a CCAC representative who will contact you when committee openings become available.  This is a great way to meet other Clerks and earn points toward MMC Certification. All active CCAC Members may serve on committees. Many committee assignments are handled via conference call.
